What kind of game Mindustry is
Mindustry combines factory building with tower defense and real-time strategy. You mine and refine materials, feed ammo into turrets and assemble units from them. The core is what you defend against waves of enemies while your production grows.
The play suits people who like planning output and automation. Most of the time goes into designing how resources move from one building to the next, and combat follows from that setup.
Production chains, liquids and coolant
Production blocks turn raw inputs into a wide range of advanced materials, which you then use for building and for units. The supply chains you lay out determine how much of each material reaches the places that need it.
Liquids are distributed through your base as well. Fires can break out and enemy flier raids come at set points in play, so the layout has to handle those too. Optional coolant and lubricant can be supplied to get more from production.
Defending bases and building armies
Your structures need protection from waves of enemies, so turrets and their ammo supply have to be arranged to cover them. Units can be set to manage parts of the base automatically or sent to attack enemy bases.
Assembly lines build mechanized units in quantity, so you can field larger groups. Units can also be used to take on enemy bases that are fully functional, not just outposts.
Campaign across Serpulo and Erekir
The campaign spans two planets, Serpulo and Erekir, with 35 hand-made maps and 250+ procedurally generated sectors. You capture territory and set up factories in one sector while playing another, and launch pads move resources between sectors.
Sectors face periodic invasions and you research new blocks to progress. The campaign includes 250+ technology blocks and 50+ types of drones, mechs and ships, and you can invite friends to complete missions together.
Co-op, PvP and custom games
Beyond the campaign there are 16+ built-in maps for custom games. Matches can be co-op, PvP or sandbox, and you can join a public dedicated server or host a private session for friends.
Custom rules let you change block costs, enemy stats, starting items and wave timing. A full map editor with scripting support and a built-in mod browser with mod support extend the game further.
