Renting a car in Brazil with the Movida app

Movida is a car rental company, and this app is its way of hiring cars at Brazilian branches and at airports. The listing names Congonhas airport as one pickup and return point. It also mentions automatic cars and rentals for work trips, leisure and longer hires.

The app is aimed at people who want to rent a car without visiting a counter first. Travellers, business travellers and people who need a car for a longer period are the groups the listing addresses.

Booking, unlocking and paying for a rental

Renters can confirm their identity with a selfie or biometrics to access the vehicle. The app also lets you prepay for the car before pickup.

After booking, the app shows where the reservation is and lets you change or cancel it. The listing describes these steps as quick, and they are handled entirely in the app.

Extra return time, Wi-Fi and 24-hour help

The developer's "Diária de 27h" gives 3 extra hours on the return day, so a rental can run until 27 hours after the start of the day rather than 24. Movida Wi-Fi provides 4G internet for up to 5 devices. The listing also lists a phone charger among the in-car features.

Assistance is available 24 hours a day, and the listing says the coverage applies across Brazil. Movida also advertises Carbon Free, which neutralizes the CO2 emissions produced during each rental.

In-car radio and choosing a fleet

Rádio Movida is an in-car radio where the station or playlist is chosen through the app. The listing describes it as an exclusive radio offered with the rental.

The listing says the fleet is new and includes luxury cars for events such as weddings, as well as cars for monthly hire. Those options are presented as choices within the same app.

Loyalty points on Movida rentals

The Movida Move Você programme gives points for each car rented. Points can be redeemed for products, services and accessories, and the listing says the user chooses what to redeem them for.

The programme is part of the same app as booking and reservation changes, so points and bookings are managed in one place.
