What the app turns your phone into

MP3 Player Remotes is a remote control app for MP3 players, aimed at people who still use an older standalone player and want to run it from their phone. The developer says it works at home or on the go, so the phone takes over the job of the physical remote that came with the player.

Browsing a playlist on the phone is presented as simpler than working through the small buttons on the player itself. The listing describes the phone as a controller for the player rather than a music app with its own library.

Infrared and Wi-Fi connections

The app supports two kinds of connection: infrared and Wi-Fi. The developer says this is meant to cover most MP3 players, so the phone is not tied to a single brand or model.

The listing does not say which players use which connection, so check how your own player connects before you rely on it.

Playback, track skipping and volume

The core controls are play and pause, moving between tracks, and adjusting volume. Each one is sent to the player from the phone, so the player can stay in a pocket, a bag or across the room.

These are the functions the listing names. It does not list other controls such as shuffle, repeat or playlist editing, so do not assume they are present.

Requesting a remote that is not listed

If a player's remote is not in the app's built-in list, the app has a request option for asking the developer to add it. This is the developer's stated route for players that are not already covered.

The developer describes the rest of the app as needing no complicated settings, and the interface as simple to navigate with a modern look. These are the developer's descriptions, not something this page has checked.
