What this offline MP3 player is for

Music Player & MP3:Echo Player is a music player for audio files already stored on your device. It does not stream songs. It is aimed at people who keep a local library of MP3s and want to browse, organise and play it.

Its main pieces are a library scanner, an equalizer, lyrics and a music cutter, all set inside a retro iPod-style interface. The developer describes it as suited to people who care about how their music sounds and looks.

Finding and sorting songs on your device

The app scans all songs in the local folders on your device and sorts them automatically by album, artist and genre. You can browse the library through those groupings without setting up anything first.

You can also build your own playlists and edit the play queue. This suits anyone who wants to pick the order of songs for a listening session rather than play a whole folder in sequence.

Adjusting sound with the equalizer

The equalizer has ten segments, so you can raise or lower individual frequency bands. A bass boost control sits alongside it for a stronger low end.

According to the developer, the EQ tuning covers tone, rhythm and a reverberation effect, not only band levels. Those settings are the developer's description and have not been checked here.

Lyrics, music cutting and audio formats

The player shows lyrics for songs, so you can read along while a track plays. A music cutter lets you cut parts out of a song.

The listing says the app plays all audio formats. The developer does not name specific file types, so check the formats your own files use.

Themes and the iPod-style interface

The interface uses a retro iPod-style design, and you can pick from ten themes to change how the player looks. The developer presents the design as part of the listening experience.

The developer also says the player uses little memory and starts quickly. These are the developer's claims and were not tested for this page.
