New York Mysteries 6

What kind of game this is

New York Mysteries 6 is a hidden-object adventure set in New York in 1966, when performers start vanishing in front of audiences who cannot later remember what they saw. The developer classes it in the hidden-object genre and adds puzzles, mini-games and complicated quests. The case is taken on by journalist Laura James, who has experience with the supernatural. Google Play rates it Teen.

It suits people who enjoy hidden-object scenes and puzzle-heavy adventure games with a period crime story.

Searching scenes and collecting items

Clues are found by searching New York for hidden objects. Exploration covers every corner of the city, and the game asks you to complete collections of unique items as you go.

The listing presents collecting as a regular part of the game, so the search for clues and the item sets run side by side.

Puzzles and mini-games in the case

Puzzles are one of the main activities, with plenty of mini-games alongside them. The developer describes the puzzles as clever enough to test your wits.

Because the mini-games are spread through the investigation, they break up the searching and questioning rather than sitting in a separate mode.

Questioning witnesses and choosing whom to trust

The first leads come from witnesses who remember nothing about the disappearances. You hear out each one and decide which accounts to trust and which to doubt.

Lucas Bishop, the Order's most senior member, also joins the investigation, and the threads of the case reach far back into the past.

The 1966 setting and its soundtrack

The story is set in the Broadway-era city, with its spotlights and street rumours of abductions. An atmospheric soundtrack is built around the 1960s noir mood, and it runs through the whole investigation.
