What Numberblocks World is for
Numberblocks World is a children's maths app built around the Numberblocks characters, who are blocks that stand for numbers. It is aimed at children aged 3 and up, with most of the content pitched at 4 to 6 year olds. Blue Zoo Animations Studio and Alphablocks Ltd made it.
Most of the content is video and games behind a subscription. The developer lists a free 7-day trial, with monthly and yearly plans after that. Payment is taken from the Google Play account at purchase, and the subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off before the period ends.
Episodes, songs and characters
The video library holds the full run of 90 Numberblocks episodes, split into five levels that go in order. Stories range from a first look at the number One to mini-musicals, slapstick comedy and an action-style escape from the Double Dungeon of Doom. Each episode is built around a specific number idea.
A set of number songs sits alongside the episodes, and the Numberblocks from the CBeebies series can be met individually. A child can also practise writing each numeral by tracing it on screen.
Counting, subitising and numeral tracing games
Three subitising games show a set of objects for a moment and ask the child to say how many there are without counting one by one. The developer describes these as a way to recognise quantity quickly.
The counting game starts with counting in ones and moves on to counting in twos, fives and tens. Taken together with the tracing activity, the games cover both the sound of counting and the written numeral.
Quizzes that decide what to watch next
The quiz is hosted by Numberblock 6 in a game show format. Its results show whether a child should rewatch earlier episodes or move on to the next stage.
Because the quiz routes children back to earlier videos or forward to new ones, it links the episodes and games into a single learning path rather than a set of unrelated clips.
Levels built around early years number skills
The developer says the content was made with experts from the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM). The levels follow the stages of early number skills, and the developer states the app fits all early years curricula.
The app has no ads, and the developer says it does not share or sell personal information. It also says it is COPPA and GDPR-K compliant. Parents who want to see the full terms can find the privacy policy and terms of service linked from the listing.
