What ACE Scanner is for

ACE Scanner is a document scanner for Android that works through the phone camera. It is built for paper that needs to become a digital file, such as receipts, invoices, handwritten notes, certificates, business cards and whiteboards. The listing describes it as free.

The main use is pointing the camera at a page and getting a PDF back in a few taps. It also includes a PDF reader and file manager, so the files it creates and the PDFs already on the phone can be kept in one place.

Four filters can be applied on top: Docs, Image, Enhance and Black & White. Docs and Black & White suit text-only pages, and Image and Enhance are for pages with photos or color.

Importing, converting and sharing PDF and JPG files

Besides camera scans, the app can import existing images and convert them into documents. The converted or scanned output can then be exported as PDF or JPG.

Sharing works from the same place, so a finished PDF can be sent on from the phone in one step.

Finding, reading and managing existing PDFs

The app automatically scans the device for PDF files and shows them in a single list. Any of them can be opened and read inside the app.

Files in the list can be copied, renamed and drawn on. The list can be sorted by date or by name, and searched by category, including Folders and Docs, to find a file without scrolling through every folder.
