What the Philips HomeRun robot app controls
This is the companion app for Philips HomeRun robots. The listing covers three kinds of robot: a vacuum, a mop and a lawn mower. You use the app to plan what each one does, start or stop it, and check on it while it runs.
The app is aimed at people who have one of these robots at home and want to manage floor cleaning and lawn mowing from their phone. It is not a standalone device. The robots need to be set up with it first.
The listing says you can start, pause or stop cleaning and mowing remotely, so you do not have to be in the same room as the robot.
Mapping rooms and setting where the robot goes
On its first run the robot builds a map of the floor plan or the garden. The map is interactive in the app. You tap it to tell the robot which rooms to clean and in what order, so a run can cover only the kitchen, bathroom and living room, for example.
The vacuum robot can store up to five maps. The listing does not say how the maps are named or switched, so it is worth reading the in-app manual for that.
You can also mark areas the robot should avoid. The listing gives two examples: valuables on the floor, and a rug in a room that is being mopped. You can set a no-go area or a no-mop area separately.
Cleaning modes for each room and mowing modes for each lawn
Each room can have its own cleaning mode. Dry mode vacuums only. Wet & Dry mode vacuums and mops hard floors. Quiet mode is for times when noise matters, and Intensive mode gives a room a more thorough clean.
Lawns have mowing modes in the same way. The listing does not describe the mowing modes by name, so the choice of mode is set per lawn rather than per zone.
A typical setup would give bedrooms Dry mode, the kitchen Intensive mode, and the hallway Wet & Dry mode. That combination is an example of how the modes fit together. The listing itself does not give it.
Scheduling cleans and running custom cleans
Once a cleaning and mowing plan exists, you start a run from the app with a tap. The listing says you can run it every day if you like, at a time that suits you.
Custom cleans are for one-off jobs. The listing gives examples such as cleaning after guests come over, or a hallway that needs extra attention. A custom clean or mow targets specific rooms or areas rather than the whole plan.
Scheduling and custom cleans both depend on the robot already having a map and a plan, so the mapping step comes first.
Progress updates and parts reminders
While a run is going, the app shows where the robot is in the home and, for the mower, how much of the garden is done. It also shows battery levels.
You get a notification when a cleaning run or mowing job finishes. That is useful if you have left the house and do not want to check.
The app also tells you when filters, mops or blades need replacing, and it lets you order them from there. The listing ties this to keeping the robot performing well.
Wi-Fi setup, accounts and support
The app walks you through connecting the robot to Wi-Fi and through the first clean or mow. The listing mentions step-by-step instructions and how-to videos.
The vacuum robots use dual-band Wi-Fi and connect on either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. The lawn mowers connect only to 2.4GHz, so a 2.4GHz network is needed for them.
The listing recommends creating an account so your preferences are saved. You can also use the app as a guest. Help comes from an in-app user manual, FAQs on Philips.com, and Philips Consumer Care.
