What the Sonicare app is for
The Philips Sonicare app is a companion for Sonicare electric toothbrushes. It is built around the brush: you connect your toothbrush to the app, and the coaching and brushing feedback start from that connection. The listing says a connected toothbrush is required, so the app is not useful on its own.
It is aimed at people who want to know how well they are brushing and whether they are reaching every area of their mouth. Which features you get depends on the toothbrush you own.
Guided brushing and coaching during a session
During a brushing session, the app offers real-time guidance. The listing describes this as a way to feel more confident with each brushing.
Outside of sessions, the app provides personalized coaching. The developer says the coaching is meant to help you build better habits over time.
Brushing data that syncs in the background
Once a toothbrush is connected, the app automatically syncs your brushing data. The sync continues when your phone is not nearby the brush, so your records stay current without you opening the app each time.
Connecting the toothbrush also gives you the latest updates to your brushing experience, according to the listing.
SenseIQ and the DiamondClean 9900 Prestige
SenseIQ is the technology the listing credits with sensing how you brush and adapting to it. It is the feature that links the toothbrush's behavior to the app's guidance.
The listing names the Next-Generation Sonicare DiamondClean 9900 Prestige as the top model that works with the app, and it says the app and that brush are designed to work together.
