Phone Junk Cleaner, Junk Scan

What the app is for

Phone Junk Cleaner, Junk Scan is a storage cleaner for Android. It scans the phone for files that take up space without being useful, such as leftover data from apps and repeated copies of the same content. It is aimed at people whose phones are running short of space and who would rather review a list of suggestions than have files removed automatically.

The developer describes two parts: a junk cleaner and a file manager. The cleaner handles scanning and suggestions, and the file manager handles browsing and sorting. Both work from the same set of files on the device.

Finding cache, leftovers and redundant APKs

The scanning engine searches for cache, residual files, temporary data and redundant APK packages. Cache and temporary files are the kind apps leave behind as they run, and APK files are the installers that often stay on storage after an app is set up. The listing describes the scan as intelligent, but gives no detail on how it decides what counts as junk.

Reviewing duplicate, similar and blurry photos

Beyond the automatic scan, the app suggests large files, duplicate files, old screenshots, and photos that are blurry or similar to each other. Each suggestion is only a recommendation. The developer says you decide whether any private file is deleted, and that the app does not collect or disclose your files.

This is the part of the app aimed at photo libraries that have built up copies over time. Suggestions can be reviewed one by one before anything is removed.

Browsing and sorting files by type

The file manager sorts scattered files into photos, videos and documents. You can search within a category to find a particular file, or delete files by hand if you do not want to use the suggestions. The developer states that the app keeps working when the phone has no internet connection.
