What PhotoSuite is for

PhotoSuite is a photo editing app that covers two levels of work. The developer describes its basic tools as the essentials of Photoshop, and its advanced tools as layer-based work with masks and object selections. The listing presents version 4 as the release with a new interface.

The app suits someone who edits photos on a phone and wants to go beyond applying a filter. The listing pitches it at photo art and image composition as well as quick touch-ups.

Effects, collages and sketching

The lighter tools cover picture editing effects, image collages and sketching. These are the parts a person would reach for to change the mood of a single shot, combine several photos into one frame, or turn a picture into a drawing-like image.

None of these tools need the layer system to be used. A person can apply an effect or build a collage without touching the more technical features.

Layers, masks and object selection

Layers let a picture be built from several stacked parts, and masks control which parts of a layer show. Together they are the core of the advanced editing the listing describes, used for compositing images and adjusting one area without changing the rest.

Complex object selections let the user pick out a subject from its background. That selection is what makes the layer and mask tools useful for cutting a subject out of one photo and placing it into another.

Full-resolution export and sharing

The listing says edits can be made and shared at full resolution, so the saved image is not reduced to a smaller size for sharing. Finished work can be exported to social networks or to cloud storage accounts directly from the app.

The listing does not name which social networks or cloud services are supported.
