Plantix - your crop doctor

A crop doctor that runs on a phone camera

Plantix is an Android app for diagnosing problems in growing crops. You point the phone camera at a sick plant, and the app identifies the pest or disease it appears to have. According to the developer, it covers 30 major crops and more than 780 kinds of plant damage.

The listing describes it as written for farmers, and it is available in 19 languages. Its tools go beyond diagnosis into alerts, advice, weather timing and fertilizer planning, so it is meant to be opened throughout a season rather than only when a plant looks wrong.

Identifying pests and diseases and choosing treatments

Diagnosis starts with a photo of the affected crop. Once the app has identified a pest or disease, it lists recommended treatments for it.

Separately, the cultivation tips section covers agricultural practices across the whole crop cycle, according to the developer. This gives a general guide to growing practice alongside the photo-based checks.

Disease warnings, community questions and weather timing

Disease alerts are tied to your district and are meant to warn you when a disease is expected to reach the area. The listing says this is so you hear about outbreaks before they arrive.

You can post crop questions to a farmer community, where the developer says more than 500 experts answer. The agri weather forecast is built around field tasks, showing when conditions suit weeding, spraying and harvesting.

Calculating fertilizer amounts for a plot

The fertilizer calculator works out how much fertilizer a crop needs, based on the size of the plot. It is the app's tool for converting a field area into a fertilizer quantity, so the figure matches the crop being grown and the land it covers.
