What Pokémon Smile is for

Pokémon Smile is a simulation game from The Pokémon Company that uses toothbrushing as its main action. The premise is that cavity-causing bacteria in your mouth have captured some Pokémon, and you rescue them by brushing.

It suits anyone who wants a daily brushing routine that has a game attached to it. The listing describes it as a way to make brushing a regular habit, with Pokémon as the reward.

Brushing to rescue and catch Pokémon

Each session of brushing works against the bacteria. The listing says that a thorough job is what defeats them and frees the Pokémon they hold.

Brushing well also gives you the chance to catch the Pokémon you have saved. The listing says that only consistent brushing lets you rescue the full group, so the game is built around repeating the routine.

Completing the Pokédex and unlocking Pokémon Caps

The Pokédex lists more than 100 Pokémon that appear in the game. Catching them all is the long-term goal, and the listing ties that goal to brushing every day.

Pokémon Caps are hats that you unlock as you play. You can wear them on your character while you brush, so the collection changes what the brushing session looks like.

Keeping a daily brushing routine going

The game is organised so that the rescue, the catches, the Pokédex and the caps all depend on brushing again the next day. The listing presents this as the mechanism for building a habit.

Pokémon partners are the characters you team up with as you brush. Their role is to keep the routine connected to the Pokémon you are trying to collect.
