Naval battles with realistic physics. Upgrade your ship and board enemy vessels
Senior reviews editor
This is a naval combat game set in the 1600s. You command a single warship and fight other vessels at sea, with the goal of becoming a feared captain. It suits players who want ship-to-ship action more than land-based adventure or exploration.
The core loop is simple to describe: sail, pick a fight, win the fight, and use what you take to make your ship stronger. Each battle feeds into the next one, so the ship you have at the start is not the one you finish with.
The build we hold is Privateers: Pirate Wars 1.0.3 (APKS split bundle) for Android 10 and up.

Combat takes place between ships at sea. The developer says the battles use realistic physics, which means the movement and impact of your vessel and its opponents are meant to follow real-world motion rather than arcade rules. Positioning and handling matter in a fight, not only how many shots you land.
Because the listing stresses outmaneuvering rivals, the way you turn and approach a target is part of the fight. A slower, heavier ship will not simply trade blows with a faster one.
You can upgrade your vessel and buy cannons with the plunder you earn. The listing describes these cannons as powerful, and you pick which ones to carry, so your loadout becomes a choice you make before each engagement.
Customizing the loadout is the main way you shape your ship. Two captains can start from the same hull and end up with very different ships depending on what they buy and mount.
Beyond cannon fire, you can board enemy vessels. Boarding is a close-quarters option that the listing presents as a way to take a ship rather than only sink it.
Target selection is a strategic decision. You can hunt weaker ships for plunder, which is the safer route, or challenge stronger enemies by outmaneuvering them. Picking the right fight is how the game's progression is meant to move forward.
