PS Remote Play

What PS Remote Play is for

PS Remote Play streams the picture from a PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 to an Android device, so you can play games that are running on your console from another room or somewhere else entirely. It is aimed at people who already own a PS5 or PS4 and want to keep playing when they are not in front of the TV.

Using it requires a PlayStation console on the latest system software and a PlayStation account. The listing also says a fast and stable internet connection is needed.

Controlling the console from a phone or tablet

You can play with the on-screen controller that appears on the phone's touchscreen. If you prefer physical controls, the listing says you can pair a DUALSHOCK 4 or a DualSense wireless controller, and it names the DualSense Edge as supported too.

The Backbone One PlayStation Edition works on USB Type-C Android phones, which turns the phone into a handheld-style controller setup.

Voice chat and typing on the console

The phone's microphone can be used for voice chats during a session, so you can talk to friends without a headset plugged into the console. The listing also says you can type text on the PS5 or PS4 using the phone's keyboard, which helps with logins, search boxes and chat messages.

Playing over mobile data

Remote Play can run over a mobile connection, but the listing warns that carriers and network conditions may stop it from working. It also says the app uses far more data than most video streaming services, and that data charges may apply.

Over Wi-Fi at home, the same stream avoids those mobile data limits, which is the situation the listing describes as the usual way to use it.
