Rap Maker - Recording Studio

What the app is for: recording rap over type beats

Rap Maker - Recording Studio is built around type beats, the instrumentals rappers write to. You choose a beat, record your voice over it on your phone, and keep or share the take. The developer describes it as a studio for people who want to sound like a finished track without setting up separate recording gear.

It suits anyone writing or performing rap who wants a beat and a vocal booth in one app. The listing aims it at both first-time recorders and people who already have their own instrumentals.

Choosing beats and importing your own

The built-in library is a collection of royalty-free type beats. The listing says the beats come with high-quality samples and stems made by top sound designers, and that new content is added regularly. It also includes a set of exclusive beats and beats inspired by hip-hop and pop artists.

If you already have an instrumental, you can import it and rap over it instead. Imported beats sit alongside the built-in ones.

Auto voice tune, pitch and effects

Effects run on your voice while you record. The listing names an auto voice tune, pitch control, reverb and a compressor. The app detects the key of the track and pitches your voice to that key automatically.

Levels are handled for you as well. An auto level gain balances the vocal against the beat, and an auto limiter is meant to remove distortion from loud takes. You can also set the record level by hand if you prefer.

Mixing with stems and owning your tracks

Beats include stem files, which split the instrumental into separate parts. You can mute or change the volume of individual elements such as drums, bass line and synths, so the backing can be adjusted to fit your delivery.

The listing states that you own the copyright to any track you create, and that the beats are royalty-free, with no limit on how many tracks you make. It describes the tracks as yours to share anywhere.

Sharing recordings to SoundCloud and YouTube

Finished recordings can be shared from the app. The listing names SoundCloud and YouTube as examples, and says you can post to any platform you choose. The developer also suggests that sharing with friends is a main reason to use it.
