Searching homes for sale and apartments for rent

Realtor.com Real Estate & Rent covers two kinds of search: homes for sale and apartments to rent. The listing also says it has tools for sellers, and that searches work across devices.

It suits people looking to buy or rent a place who want to set the criteria themselves. The filters are the main way to narrow a long list of properties down to a short one.

Filtering listings by price, size, schools and commute

You can filter homes for sale by price, size, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, nearby schools, and commute time. The listing mentions more filters beyond these.

Commute time and school filters let you screen out areas that do not fit a daily routine or a school requirement, so the results are closer to what you need.

Drawing a search area on the map

The draw-on-map tool lets you outline the exact area you want to search instead of relying on a city or postcode. Zooming in shows nearby restaurants, shops and cafes, so you can see what is within walking distance of a listing.

Checking noise, traffic and hazard risk by area

Map layers show neighborhood noise levels and traffic, so you can compare how busy or quiet two streets are without visiting them. The app also shows a flood risk and a wildfire risk for a home.

These layers are useful when two listings look similar on price and size but sit in different places. Seeing the layers side by side on the map makes the difference easier to spot.
