Advanced features that must be unlocked
Independent app, not made by Voltas Limited

What Remote For Voltas AC is for

Remote For Voltas AC is a remote control app for Voltas air conditioning units. It is aimed at people who already own a Voltas unit and would rather adjust it from their phone than from the handset that came with it.

The developer, listed as myapps., states that the app is an independent creation and is not affiliated with Voltas Limited.

How infrared control reaches the unit

The app sends its commands through the phone's infrared transmitter, the same kind of emitter a conventional handset uses. The phone therefore has to have one for the app to work at all.

Because control runs through infrared, the phone has to be pointed toward the unit in the usual way for a handset to reach it.

Setting cooling preferences on the phone

The listing says the app lets you personalize your cooling preferences from the phone. It does not name the individual settings in the description, so the exact controls are not described here.

The stated purpose is to give you more direct control over the indoor temperature of a Voltas unit from the same device you carry around.

Advanced features and the in-app unlock

The listing describes some features as advanced and says they are unlocked within the app. Those features are the ones the developer frames as going beyond basic control.

The listing does not name those advanced features, so a reader should check what is locked before relying on any of them.
