What the app is for

Remote For Xiaomi is a remote control app for Xiaomi Remote TVs. Its purpose is to replace the handset with the phone in your hand, so the TV can be driven from the phone's screen.

The developer states that the app is not affiliated with Xiaomi and works independently, while being built to work with Xiaomi Remote TVs. It suits people who already own one of those TVs and would rather use the phone for navigation.

Setting up the phone as a TV remote

The listing describes a quick setup step that comes before the phone can control the TV. The developer does not spell out the steps or the connection method in the listing text, so the setup itself is the first thing to expect.

Once setup is complete, the phone becomes the controller for the TV, with no separate remote needed for the functions the app covers.

Navigating channels, apps and TV settings

The core use is moving around the TV from the phone. The developer lists changing channels, opening apps and going through the TV's settings menus, each by tapping on the phone screen.

This covers the everyday tasks a standard remote handles: switching what is on screen, launching a streaming or other app, and adjusting options in the system menus.

The newer interface

The developer says a new interface has been introduced and describes it as faster and designed for easier navigation. The listing gives no further detail on what changed in the layout or controls.

The developer's claims about speed and navigation are their own description. They are not checked here.
