Ringtone Maker: Music Cutter

Custom ringtone maker for songs and recordings

This is an audio editor aimed at people who want their phone to play something other than the default tone. The listing describes it as a free ringtone maker, and it is built around music editing and audio editing functions. It works from two kinds of source: music files and audio you have recorded yourself.

The people it is pitched at are those who want a different sound for certain callers, for each SIM card, or for alarms and notifications.

Cutting a ringtone from music or a recording

The editor lets you select a portion of a track or recording and trim it down to a ringtone-length clip. The listing also mentions a ringtone converter and changer function, which turns the audio you have chosen into a ringtone file the phone can use.

The listing does not give a list of supported audio formats, so the file types you can import are not stated here.

Assigning sounds to contacts, SIM cards and alarms

Once a clip is made, it can be set for a particular contact, so calls from that person ring with their own tone. The listing says the same method works for SIM cards, which gives each line its own ringtone.

The finished clips can also be used as alarm sounds and notification reminders, not only as call ringtones.

Sharing ringtones you have made

Finished ringtones can be shared with friends directly from the app, according to the listing. This is the only sharing option the listing describes.
