Saj VPN: one-tap VPN with a choice of servers

By Kelvin Ooi

Security and privacy editor

One-tap connection through a server you choose
A wide selection of servers to pick from
Helps protect your internet connection
Free to use, supported only by advertising
Speed and availability vary by location and server

What Saj VPN does and who it suits

Saj VPN asks very little of you before it starts working: open the app, choose a server, tap to connect. It is a VPN, so it routes your internet connection through one of its servers. The developer, OWL Team, says this helps you browse with more privacy and protection.

The listing says the interface is simple enough for anyone to use. That points the app at people who want a connection without much setup, rather than people who want to manage a network in detail.

Connecting with one tap after picking a server

The connection itself is a single tap. Before tapping, you select a server from the ones the app offers. The developer says the wide selection is there to help you find a suitable connection quickly.

According to the listing, connection speed and server availability depend on three things: your location, your network conditions and the server you pick. The same tap can therefore give different results from one day or place to the next.

Privacy and protection while browsing

The developer describes the protection in general terms. The app helps protect your internet connection and helps you browse with more privacy.

The server you select is the one part of the connection the listing says you control, so it is the choice that most affects where your traffic goes.

Free to use, paid for by adverts

The listing says Saj VPN is free to download and use. It is supported only by advertising, which the developer says keeps the service running without charging users.

On the developer's account, what you pay is attention to adverts rather than money. Expect the ads to be the price of the free connection.
