What the app is for
ScreenMaster:Screenshot Markup is a screenshot and image annotation app for Android. It takes a capture of the screen and then gives you the tools to edit that capture before you pass it on.
It suits people who regularly send annotated screenshots to others, such as marking up an error message, circling a setting or pointing to a part of a page. According to the developer, it works without root access.
Ways to start a screenshot
A floating button stays on screen, and tapping it takes a capture. You can also trigger a capture by shaking the device. The developer lists Android app shortcuts and a quick settings tile as additional ways to start one.
These options let you take a screenshot without navigating to a menu in the app each time.
Editing and marking up images
The editor includes crop, text, pixelation, arrows, rectangles and circles. Pixelation hides parts of an image, and the shape and arrow tools point out specific areas.
Once marked up, the image can be shared directly with other people.
Capturing long pages and stitched images
The app can capture an entire web page and save it as one image, so you do not need to take several screenshots and join them yourself. It also lists long screenshots and stitching photos as supported capture types.
These modes are useful for articles, chat logs or any content longer than one screen.
Saving and storing screenshot files
Screenshots are saved as PNG files, which the developer says keep full image quality without loss. Captures can also be saved to an external SD card instead of internal storage.
Keeping files on an SD card can free up internal space on a device that supports one.
