What the app covers for boaters
The app puts marine weather, passage planning, a cruising guide and GPS boat tracking in one place. The developer says its destination content comes from boaters describing the places they have stopped, and that its trip logs draw on 16 million miles of recorded journeys.
It suits people planning coastal or open-water passages who want the forecast, the stops and a record of the trip in a single app.
Planning a passage against the forecast
You draw a route on the map and set your own wind and wave limits. The app then shows which departure windows keep forecast conditions along the passage inside those limits, and which ones do not.
Forecasts cover wind, waves and precipitation for 10 days, with hour-by-hour detail for the first 48. You can compare GFS, the European model and Google WeatherNext, and see where they agree or differ. A float plan built from the route and weather can be exported to share with people ashore.
Finding anchorages, marinas and stops
The map lists marinas, anchorages, mooring fields, fuel docks and local favourites. At an anchorage you can check the forecast and how well it shelters you. You can also save destinations and find stops along a planned route.
LocalGuide adds notes on why a destination is worth a visit. RouteIntelligence shows where boaters tend to go before and after a given stop, which can help when choosing the next leg.
Recording each trip with GPS
GPS boat tracking logs your journeys, so each trip stays on record after you arrive. The planned route, the forecast you used and the track you actually sailed or motored can then be read together.
What's new
Plan smarter passages with tools to compare departure windows against your wind and wave limits, explore 10-day forecasts, and compare GFS, European and Google models. Plot routes to check conditions along the way, assess anchorage shelter before you arrive, and share your float plan with friends and family.
Your boat tracker, cruising guide and digital logbook, now with weather tools to help you plan your next adventure.
