What SiteBox is for on a civil engineering site
If you keep photo records and measurement sheets for a civil engineering job, the question is whether one phone can replace the camera, the blackboard and the paper log. SiteBox is made for that job. It is a Japanese app from KENSETSU SYSTEM Co.Ltd. for managing construction photographs and as-built (出来形) measurements on civil works, and the listing presents it as a way to run both from a single smartphone.
It suits site crews who need photographs that can be delivered electronically, and who already work with the Dexpert family of construction management software. Most of its useful features connect to that software, so the app is less useful on its own than it is inside a workflow that already uses those products.
The app needs two paid contracts before it works in full. The listing says it requires a SiteBox contract and a contract for the KS Data Bank cloud service, both of which are paid.
Taking and labelling construction photographs
Photos are taken at about one megapixel, which the listing describes as enough for electronic delivery. For each shot you enter the photo information that the digital photo management standard requires. The shooting date and time are filled in automatically.
The electronic blackboard is the feature most crews will use first. You build a board on screen, imprint it onto the photograph, and can edit the board's contents afterwards. The listing says this removes the need to carry a physical board or hand-write on it, which in turn means fewer people are needed at the shoot and crews do not have to take boards into dangerous spots.
The result is a photo with its labelling already on it, rather than a separate sheet to match up later. That matters most on sites where a second person would otherwise be holding the board.
Recording as-built measurements and checking tolerances
Measured values for as-built work are typed in on site. The app checks each value against the specification range and against the company's own standard range, and shows whether it falls inside them. The listing presents this as an on-site check, so a crew can see a result before leaving the spot.
As-built photographs draw on the information already entered. The work type, station points, sketch and measured values are carried into the photo record, so the same details are not typed twice. The listing says the work types can be made in Dexpert's as-built management system and sent to SiteBox, and that once the data is synced, the reports are produced automatically.
Work types, station points and measured values are therefore set up once in the management software and then used on the phone.
Concrete quality control records
The app supports concrete acceptance tests and compressive strength tests. Quality control photographs can use the test results entered in the app, and they can also use mix and placement information sent from the quality control system, such as the concrete mix and the placement location.
The mix master and placement location data arrive from the quality control system before the crew goes out. The listing says that once the data is transferred and synced, the reports are generated from it, so the test figures are not rewritten by hand.
Sorting photos and storing site data
A classification tree built in Dexpert 写管屋, a civil engineering photo management package, is sent to SiteBox before shooting. Photos taken on the phone are then grouped by that tree. According to the listing, downloading the photos to 写管屋 completes the sorting, so the office does not have to rearrange them afterwards.
Everything entered in SiteBox and every photograph is stored on the KS Data Bank cloud service. The listing says this protects the records if a phone is lost or damaged. Storage depends on the paid KS Data Bank contract described above.
