What kind of game this is

Skullgirls: Fighting RPG is a 2D fighting game with RPG progression, made for phones and tablets with touch controls. Each character is drawn by hand, frame by frame, and the listing describes thousands of frames of animation per character.

It suits people who already play fighting games and people who have never played one. The same game offers a simplified mode for newcomers and deeper combo systems for players who want them. It is free to play.

Collecting and building a roster of fighters

The roster is made of more than 300 fighter variants drawn from over 20 original characters. Each variant carries its own Signature Ability, so the same character can play differently depending on which version you own. Variants come in Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond tiers.

You raise fighters by evolving and upgrading them, and you unlock Skill Trees that shape how they develop. Special Moves and Blockbuster finishers are equipped into a loadout. Guest Stars such as Minette and Brain Drain can be recruited as assist characters, and Relics can be opened to find new fighters.

Fighting with touch controls

Controls are tap and swipe rather than a physical stick or buttons. Fight Assist is the beginner option, which runs combos for you so you can concentrate on timing and team choice.

Experienced players can take manual control of combo chains, juggles, resets and Blockbuster finishers. A match uses a team of up to 3 fighters, and the listing puts weight on finding the best synergies between them.

Online battles, rifts, prizes and guilds

Versus Mode is real-time player-versus-player combat against people around the world. Rift Battles let you build defenses, attack other players and climb a leaderboard.

Prize Fights are competitive events that run weekly and monthly and offer rare rewards. Guilds let players join together and take on cooperative challenges.

Story, monthly content and the shop

A full Story Mode campaign is set in the city of New Meridian, and each character has an Origin Story that covers their background. New fighters, events and balance changes are added on a regular basis.

Backstage Pass is a monthly season pass with a free track and a premium track. The Cabinet of Curiosities is a rotating shop that stocks rare items. The developer also posts free reward codes on its @sgmobile social account.
