A retro-style shoot 'em up with modern visuals
Sky Force Reloaded is a shoot 'em up in the style of classic arcade shooters, with modern graphics and sound. You fly a jet fighter through stages and shoot down ground, naval and air forces, along with large bosses.
The developer describes it as aimed at both casual players and bullet hell fans, with the difficulty curve adjustable through several levels. Explosions, lasers and a professional voiceover and electronic soundtrack are all part of the presentation.
Choosing and upgrading a jet
The game lists nine aircraft to pilot, each with its own features and play style, so the jet you pick changes how a run plays out.
Guns, shields and other equipment can be upgraded in the hundreds of options the developer lists. The developer says this lets a jet be built into a heavily armed machine.
Stages, enemies and rescue runs
There are 15 stages, each with missions to complete. Enemies include ground, naval and air forces, and the bosses are described as large and intimidating.
Some missions involve flying into danger to rescue missing operatives from the battlefield. Picking up the wrecks of fallen friends is listed as giving a reward.
Bonus cards, technicians and collectibles
Hunting down the 30 bonus cards adds further depth to the gameplay. Some grant permanent benefits, while others boost abilities only for a limited time.
Completing in-game objectives unlocks eight assisting technicians. You choose one to help with a special skill during play.
Weekend Tournament and hi-score leaderboards
The Weekend Tournament is played on five infinite stages specially built for it. Scores are posted to leaderboards, where you can compare your hi-score with your friends.
Difficulty modes from Normal to Nightmare can be unlocked as you progress, so the tournament and the main campaign both leave room to push your scores higher.
