Smart Connect

What Smart Connect is for

Smart Connect is a bridge between a phone or tablet and a PC. It is aimed at people who move between those screens through the day and want the same files, messages and apps available on each.

Most of its features run from the PC side or share data in both directions, so the phone and the computer work as one setup rather than two separate devices.

Streaming phone apps and media to a PC

You can stream your favorite apps and media from a phone or tablet to a PC or a smart display. This lets you watch or use phone content on a bigger screen without copying the files over first.

Sharing files, texts and clipboard contents

Search lets you look for files, photos and other content across every connected device, and Share Hub moves them between devices. Both are listed as cross-device tools.

Messages from the phone can be read and answered from the PC dashboard, so you do not have to pick up the phone for each reply. Clipboard copies text or a screenshot on one device and pastes it on another.

Using a phone as a workspace, second screen or webcam

Mobile Desktop turns a phone into a desktop-style workspace for running several things at once while away from a computer. Cross Control extends your PC screen onto a tablet or mirrors it there, so the tablet can act as a second display.

Webcam uses the phone or tablet camera as the PC's camera for video calls. The developer describes this camera as high-resolution.
