Smash Away! is a puzzle game built around a cannon. Each level presents a structure, and you choose a point to aim at, then launch a ball into it. The physics engine then moves everything the ball touches, so pieces bump, slide and spill off the table.
You have a set number of balls to finish each stage. The goal is to remove the structure within that limit, so each shot counts. The game suits short sessions, since a single stage can be played in a few minutes.
The listing suggests looking at what holds the stack together before firing. A lower block that supports the rest, a crowded corner, or a piece balancing near the edge are the spots it names. A well-chosen hit can knock down more than the block you aimed at.
Because the physics runs on every collision, the same ball can bring down different parts of a stack depending on where it lands. Planning the next shot around the structure is the main decision in each stage.
Stages use three kinds of structure: stacks of cans, stacks of blocks, and mixed stacks combining both. The developer says changing shapes and materials from one stage to the next is meant to push you toward different approaches.
Since each structure reacts differently to a ball, a method that works on cans may not work on blocks. Trying another angle or target is how you adjust between stages.
The listing describes the controls as straightforward, so most of the effort goes into choosing a target rather than handling the controls. A single round is short, which suits a break from other activities.
You can finish one setup, work out the next target, and start another whenever you choose. Each stage is self-contained, so you can stop after any round.
