SecureSEGA's platform hit returns with Sonic The Hedgehog on mobile!
By Mei-Lin Chua
Contributing editor, apps and storefronts
This is a mobile version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog arcade game from SEGA. The developer describes it as optimized for phones and other mobile devices, so the classic game is the core of the app rather than a remake built around new content.
It suits anyone who already plays classic SEGA titles or wants to see where the Sonic series started. The listing presents it as a game for everyone, rated Everyone.
The game is built around seven zones from the original game. You move through each zone at speed, running along paths and through loop-de-loops.
Rings are the main thing to collect along the way. The listing describes running the loops while picking them up as the core activity of each stage.
The story is simple: Sonic and his friends have to stop the villain Mr. Eggman. Each zone moves the player closer to that goal.
The listing does not describe any new story beyond the classic game, so the premise is the one from the original release.
Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the games in SEGA's Forever collection of classic console titles brought to mobile. The listing describes that collection as free.
Within the collection, this app is the mobile version of the original Sonic arcade game, adapted for phone and tablet play.
The build we hold is Sonic the Hedgehog™ Classic 5.0.0 (APKS split bundle) for Android 6.0 and up.
