What Sound Tune does in a car

Sound Tune is a Pioneer app for adjusting the sound of compatible car audio units from an Android phone. The developer says it is meant to bring higher-end tuning to a basic factory stereo and speaker set. Every adjustment is made on the phone rather than on the head unit.

The listing names the DEQ-S1000A and DEQ-S1000A2 as the compatible models. Anyone with one of those units is the intended user.

Shaping sound with an equalizer and time alignment

The main tuning control is a 31-band graphic equalizer, which lets you raise or cut separate frequency bands. Time alignment adjusts the timing of sound reaching the listener from each speaker, so the sound arrives together.

The listing also names a sound processing option called Super Todoroki Sound. It gives no further detail about what that setting changes.

Previewing settings and the three-way network mode

Live simulation is listed as a way to hear the effect of settings before committing to them. The listing describes it only by name, so its exact behaviour is not set out.

Three-way network mode is listed as a speaker configuration option. Both features sit alongside the equalizer and time alignment as the app's named functions.

Connecting a phone to the stereo over USB

The USB connection uses Android Open Accessory 2.0, which lets the phone talk to the car unit directly over a cable. The listing says whether it works depends on the individual phone, and some phones may not work properly or emit sound because of their own software.

The listing also warns that the Pixel 6 series does not work properly with the product and recommends updating the phone's system software.
