What SplitVPN is for

SplitVPN is a VPN for Android that encrypts traffic only for the apps you select. Everything else keeps its normal connection, a design the listing calls split tunneling. The developer names two situations it targets: banking and local apps that stop working while a VPN runs, and public WiFi in airports, hotels and cafés.

Choosing which apps go through the VPN

The default mode sends only the apps you add through the tunnel. The reverse mode keeps the VPN on for everything except the apps you exclude, which suits a banking app that needs a direct connection. Under Advanced Settings, the split mode can instead be set to websites and domains, so chosen sites go through the VPN inside any app while everything else stays direct.

Changing the app list or the country while connected triggers an automatic reconnect, so you do not have to disconnect first.

Protecting traffic on public WiFi and while traveling

The tunnel is built on Android's VpnService and encrypts traffic between your device and SplitVPN's servers. Sites reached by the selected apps see the IP address of a server in the country you picked, not your own. You can choose a country, leave it on Auto, search the country list, and save favorites.

Allow local network keeps printers, casting targets and other devices on your WiFi reachable while the VPN is on. Local websites such as banking and government services can also be set to open directly instead of through the tunnel.

Connection protocols and staying connected

SplitVPN supports several VPN protocols, including VLESS and Shadowsocks. A test-all button checks every protocol in one tap to show which ones work on your current network. An optional auto mode checks the chosen protocol before each connection and switches to a working one if it fails.

You can connect or disconnect from the Quick Settings panel. The app works with Android's Always-on VPN setting, and its background mode is described as keeping the connection alive when battery saving would otherwise stop it.

Free plan, PRO subscription and sign-in

The free plan gives access to a selection of locations, and a short ad plays before each connection. PRO removes ads, unlocks every location across 30+ countries including the USA, the UK, Germany, Japan and Singapore, and covers up to 10 devices on one subscription signed in with the same email. Subscriptions renew through Google Play until canceled, and PRO stays active until the end of the paid period. Eligible users may be offered a free trial, which should be canceled before it ends to avoid a charge.

You can start as a guest without signing up. Adding an email later lets you sign in on other devices with a one-time code instead of a password. The app is offered in 25 languages, has light, dark and system themes, and lets you delete your account in Settings at any time.
