For busy kitchen operators to view orders and mark status quickly and accurately

Square KDS Beta is a kitchen display system: it puts the orders a kitchen has to prepare on a screen, so prep and expo staff work from one display. The developer aims it at quick-service and full-service restaurants with high order volume, from single sites to multi-location businesses.
Operators can change how orders appear through dashboard settings, so the screen can follow how a particular kitchen runs. The listing describes it as suited to kitchens with complex operations and several staff preferences.
The build we hold is Square KDS Beta 7.29 (APKS split bundle) for Android 9.0 and up.

Dine-in and takeout orders sit in the same list, and orders from third-party marketplaces come in automatically. The list can be filtered to open or completed tickets, and staff can change the ticket size and how many tickets show per page.
Timers you set change an item's color as it waits, for example yellow after five minutes and red after ten. A ticket can be pushed to the front of the queue, and individual items or whole orders can be recalled if they need to come back up.
Items and orders are marked complete with a tap. When a pickup order is marked complete, the app texts the diner automatically so they know it is ready. Staff can also mark an item as 86'd from the screen, the restaurant term for an item that has run out.
The app shows how many of the popular items need prepping at a given time. Any order can be printed on demand from the kitchen screen with one tap.
The listing says managers can view kitchen speed in real time from anywhere. Reports show the number of tickets and average completion time for each device, and order prep speed by station and location.
A kitchen can run several KDS screens at once, with orders and items routed to specific prep stations so each station sees only what it prepares.
