This page needs its stylesheet to be shown
The app listing, the version table and the download step are laid out by this site’s stylesheet. With stylesheets switched off, or blocked before they arrive, none of that layout exists, so the page is not shown.
Allow CSS for this site — including in any content blocker or privacy extension that may be stopping it — then reload the page.
Transform your note-taking experience with Squid!
By Hafiz Rahman
Editor, tools and utilities
Squid is for making handwritten notes on a phone, tablet, or Chromebook. It suits people who want a paper-like page for notes, sketches, or planning, while keeping the result in a digital notebook.
You can write with an active pen on compatible devices, or use a finger or capacitive stylus. Pages can use blank, ruled, or graph paper in sizes including infinite, letter, and A4. The listing says notes use vector graphics, so they can be zoomed without losing their graphic quality.
For corrections, the basic tools include undo and redo, selection, moving and resizing items, and a stroke eraser that removes whole letters or words. You can change the color or weight of selected content, then cut, copy, and paste items within or between notes.
Notes can be sorted into folders, and content can be moved between pages. Imported images can be cropped and resized. Squid also supports two-finger scrolling, pinch-to-zoom, and double-tap zoom, plus a dark theme and multi-window use for taking notes alongside another app.
Squid Premium is required to import and mark up PDFs. The listing describes using this for annotations, form filling, document signatures, and reviewing or grading papers. Premium also adds highlighters, shapes, typed text, a true eraser, and specialized paper backgrounds such as math, music, and planning layouts.
Notes can be exported as PDFs, PNGs, JPEGs, or Squid Note files, then shared through services such as email or Google Drive. The app can also turn a note into a virtual whiteboard and cast it to a TV or projector. Premium adds backup and restore, plus bulk PDF export to Google Drive, Dropbox, or Box.
The listing presents Squid as free to try, with a separate paid Premium offering. It does not give Premium's price. PDF import and markup, the additional editing tools, specialty paper backgrounds, and the listed backup and bulk-export functions are among the Premium features.
The developer says notes are stored on the device and that no account or sign-in is needed. The listing does not describe automatic cloud syncing as part of the basic app. You can export and share notes, while Premium provides the specified backup and restore options.
The build we hold is Squid: Take Notes, Markup PDFs 4.6.0-GP (APKS split bundle) for Android 10 and up.
