Stormfall: Saga of Survival is a free-to-play multiplayer survival role-playing game set in the high-fantasy Stormfall world. You play a former master who has been betrayed and banished to the Eastern Marches, a land of snowy peaks, ruins and beasts. The goal is to stay alive there, then work toward redemption.
Items can be bought with real money. The developer notes that some paid items may not be refundable, depending on the item type. The listing names 17 languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Korean and Thai.
Fights happen against forest beasts above ground and corrupted monsters. You craft and loot weapons to use against them, and you can hunt for food and supplies to survive starvation. Combat is the main way to earn gear.
Below ground, the darkest reaches of the world hold more dangerous enemies. Defeating them yields treasure and weapons said to carry the sorcery of the ancients. Exploring the dark forests, snowy mountains and arcane ruins brings new regions and more loot.
You make weapons, tools and armor from materials you find on the map. Hunting and looting replenish the supplies you need to keep crafting. Your shelter is the base where you rest, store progress and defend yourself.
You can build the shelter and improve it over time. Taming a horse speeds up travel and looting, which matters when the map is large and the wilds are dangerous.
Sorcery is a separate path from crafting. You craft runes that power your weapons and improve your chances of survival, and you can learn the arcane arts to use magic against enemies.
The darkness in the land is described as seductive, and you have to shelter yourself from its magic. Learning the secrets of a goddess is presented as the way to fight that power.
Faction Ambassadors come to your shelter and share their secrets. Completing faction quests builds your reputation and raises your rank. You choose between Frontier Warden, Arcanist and Shadowmonger.
Outside your shelter you meet other exiles and forms of magic. The developer leaves how you deal with them up to you, and warns that a wrong choice can put you on the wrong side.
