What StoryLab is for

StoryLab is a phone app for making Instagram stories and posts from photos and videos. It also covers highlight cover icons and simple logos for Instagram and Snapchat.

It suits people who post to Instagram regularly and want ready-made layouts to start from, as well as people who would rather begin with an empty canvas and build their own design.

Starting stories from templates or a blank canvas

The template library holds more than 1,300 story layouts and more than 1,000 post layouts. You pick one, then swap in your own photos or video clips and edit the text and elements on top.

Collage layouts split a story into several frames, so you can place multiple photos or clips in one design. For a custom look, you can open a blank canvas and add story-style filters and stickers to it yourself.

The listing describes the editor as working with both photo and video, so the same tools apply whether the source is a still image or a clip.

Animated stories and highlight covers

Over 170 of the story templates are animated, so the finished story moves rather than staying as a single frame. The listing presents these alongside the static templates, not as a separate app.
