StoryShots: Book Summaries

What StoryShots is for

StoryShots is a book summary app. Its listing describes a library of over 1 million summaries of bestselling and nonfiction titles, which it says are meant to be read in minutes rather than the full book. The app is aimed at people who want the main ideas from a book without reading all of it.

The listing also presents it as a source of free audiobooks and cliff notes style summaries. It appears under the alternative spelling Story Shorts as well.

Finding summaries by title, topic and release

The library covers bestsellers and new releases, according to the listing. Its stated topics include leadership, life and wellbeing, so a reader looking for practical or self-help nonfiction can browse within those areas.

Each summary is described as a short read that gives the key insights of a book. The listing puts the reading time at about 15 minutes for a summary.

Audiobooks and cliff notes summaries

Alongside the written summaries, the listing says the app provides audiobooks at no cost. The cliff notes format is presented as a condensed version of a book's contents, separate from the audio listening option.

The developer lists the content as free to access. The listing does not describe any paid tier.

Summaries in several languages

The listing says the content is available in eight languages. It names Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Italian among them, so readers who prefer those languages can use the summaries in them.
