Tactical LCD Watch Face

A tactical LCD watch face, drawn like a piece of field gear.

The display sits inside an armoured frame held down by exposed screws. A
battery plate is bolted across the top, a CMDN plate across the foot, and
three lit windows are set deep into the frame like instruments in a hard
case. Nothing on it is there for decoration — every window carries a reading
you check on the move.

THE READOUT

The top-left window holds the date and weekday. The weather window beside it
shows the current conditions as an icon, with the temperature beneath. The
large lower window carries the hour and minute with the seconds beside them,
and a column on the left marks AM, PM or 24-hour time. Battery sits on the
top plate, the UV index on the right, heart rate and steps along the foot.

Every digit is set in CMDN Segment, the segment typeface drawn for this line,
with the unlit segments showing behind each digit, the way a real LCD panel
looks in daylight. Along the left edge runs 32768 HZ, the frequency a quartz
watch counts to keep time.

Tilt your wrist and the glass reflection and the dial texture move with it.
At night the panel goes dark and every segment glows green, like a backlit
display read under a headlamp, with the seconds hidden so only the hour and
minute stay lit.

FIELD COLOURS

The housing and the dial each come in khaki, navy, grey, sand or burgundy,
the colours of equipment cases, webbing, desert kit and gunmetal, and you
choose them on their own. The digits take one of twenty colours.
