What this talking alarm clock is for

Talking Alarm Clock Beyond is an Android alarm clock that announces the time out loud when it goes off. You can add a short spoken message to the same alarm, so the reminder for the day is read to you as you wake. It is aimed at people who would rather hear the time and their to-do points than look at a screen or hear a plain tone.

The alarm speaks the time and the message together, and each alarm can carry its own label, which is also spoken. Alarms are set on the device itself, and the app is built around that single job rather than around timers, stopwatches or world clocks.

Setting one-time, weekly and dated alarms

An alarm can ring once, repeat on chosen weekdays, or fire on a specific calendar date set in the future. The dated option reaches well beyond the current year, so an alarm can be booked far ahead.

Each alarm keeps its own settings, so changing one does not change the others. New alarms start from a set of default settings that you can edit, which saves setting up the same options again for every alarm.

Ways to stop an alarm and Mayday backup mode

The alarm will not stop until you complete a task. The listing names math problems, captcha puzzles, shaking the phone and walking, plus other options. These are meant to make it harder to silence the alarm without getting up.

Mayday Mode adds a second, much louder alarm that acts as a backup for a set time. Once it is active, it can only be dismissed, so it stays on until you turn it off.

Alarm sounds, music, radio and voice control

The app includes 17 alarm sounds that come with it. You can also search your device for a ringtone or a song, pick a playlist, or choose an online radio station to wake to.

Alarms and timers can be set by voice through Ok Google, so you can create one without touching the screen.
