What the Teachable Android app is for

The Teachable app is a companion for people taking online courses hosted on Teachable-powered schools. It puts the course materials from those schools on an Android phone or tablet, so a student can work through them outside the browser. The listing describes it as a way to keep course content with you, whether or not you have a connection at the time.

It suits students who already have a course on a Teachable school and want to study on the move. It does not show courses on its own. You need an enrollment first.

Downloading courses for offline study

Once you are enrolled, the app lets you download your course content and open it without a network connection. The listing says this covers all the content from your Teachable schools, so the same course can be read or watched on a train or in a place with poor signal as it would be at home.

The listing states that full access to a course comes from downloading the app, after enrollment. The developer does not list the content types or file formats in the description.

Continuing lessons across the app and browser

Course progress is synced between the Android app and the web browser. If you finish part of a lesson on a laptop, the app carries that position over, and the reverse works too.

The listing presents this as picking up where you left off, so a student can switch devices in the middle of a course without repeating material.

Enrollment, schools and cost

The Teachable app is completely free to use. Access to the course content depends on enrollment in a course run through a Teachable-powered school, not on a separate app purchase.

The app connects to whichever Teachable school you are enrolled in. It is not a general store for courses, and a course from a school you have not joined will not appear in it.
