What The Past Within Lite is
The Past Within Lite is the demo of The Past Within, a co-op puzzle adventure from Rusty Lake. A single session runs about 15 to 30 minutes, according to the listing.
It is built for two people playing together. The listing says both players must own a copy of the full game to play the demo, and that the demo's content differs from the premium version.
Choosing The Future or The Past
At the start, each player picks either The Future or The Past. The Future player joins a beta program called the Cubical Device to try to make contact with The Past.
The Past side passes along information to the other player. The listing says the two players can switch sides during play, so each gets to see both halves of the puzzle.
Solving puzzles with a friend on any platform
The game has no solo mode. Every puzzle is solved by two players working together.
Play is cross-platform, so the two players do not need to be on the same device type to join each other.
Soundtrack and the full game
The soundtrack was composed by Victor Butzelaar and is meant to set the mood across the session.
The listing gives the full premium version a release date of November 2nd 2022 and says it will be translated into 18+ languages. The demo is rated USK 12+.
