What Toast Now is for

Toast Now is a companion to Toast's restaurant system for owners and managers who are away from the terminal. It is only available to Toast customers, so it does not work as a standalone tool. The listing groups its functions into sales monitoring, delivery channel control, a manager log, stock status and staff shift views.

Most of what it shows comes from the same account used on Toast Web, so changes made on the phone and on the desktop refer to the same records.

Checking live sales by the hour

Sales figures update through the day and break down into hourly totals. Each period can be set against the same day one week earlier and the same day one year earlier, which is useful for judging whether a slow hour is unusual.

The breakdowns are the developer's own groupings, so the categories shown are the ones Toast uses for your sales data.

Pausing online and delivery orders

Three order channels can be switched on or off from the phone: online ordering through Toast, Local by Toast, and third-party delivery apps such as Grubhub. This lets a manager stop incoming orders from one channel without touching the others, for example when the kitchen is behind.

Each channel is toggled separately, so turning off one does not change the rest.

Stock status, manager log and messages

Menu items can be marked in stock or out of stock in real time, so front-of-house staff can tell customers what is unavailable and handle shortages without checking with the kitchen.

Entries in the manager log can be added and edited, and they sync with Toast Web. Staff can also reply to messages in short conversation threads inside the app.

Staff shifts and multiple locations

The shift view shows which employees are clocked in or out, lets a manager edit a shift, and displays tips earned and break times for each shift.

If an account covers several restaurants, one login shows all of them and their performance in a single view, so switching between sites does not require signing in again.
