What the TopCashback app is for

TopCashback is a UK cashback service. It pays back a portion of what you spend when you buy through its retailer links, rather than being a shop or a price comparison tool in its own right.

The developer describes it as the UK's leading cashback app and says more than 25 million people have joined. Earning requires a TopCashback account, so you sign up before your first purchase.

How tracked purchases become cashback

You start by searching the offers available from the app's retailers, then buy from one of them. The app records the spend against your account, and the cashback is added there once the purchase is tracked.

Because the cashback depends on tracking, the purchase has to go through the app's link to a retailer for it to count. The listing does not describe other ways of recording a purchase.

Retailers and categories covered

The listing says the app covers over 5,500 UK retailers across a wide spread of spending, from food shops and takeaways to flights and technology. Named retailers include eBay, Currys, Etsy, Argos and Just Eat.

This makes it usable for both everyday buying, such as groceries and takeaway orders, and bigger one-off purchases like a laptop or a flight booking.

Searching offers and finding retailers

The app lets you search its offers by retailer, so you can check what cashback a shop offers before buying. Search is the starting point for each purchase in the flow the listing describes.

Browsing the offers before you buy is how the app is meant to be used, since the cashback is only tracked for purchases started from it.
