Touch Screen Test is a set of short diagnostic screens for an Android phone's touchscreen and display. The developer groups them into color tests, touch tests, a display information page and two animations.

Each part covers a different question about the screen, so you can run the one that matches what you want to know.

Testing touch response and multi-finger input

The single-touch test is finished only when the whole screen is filled with blue rectangles, including the strip under the top text message. Any area that does not respond shows up as a gap that stays unfilled.

According to the listing, the multi-touch test is meant for after the single-touch test passes. It checks whether up to ten fingers register at once, the same input that multi-finger gestures in other apps rely on.

Color screens and the display info page

Three full-screen color tests show purity, gradient and shade patterns. Each test moves to its next page with one tap.

The Display info page lists screen resolution, pixel density, aspect ratio and current brightness. The developer says these readings help decide whether eye comfort mode is worth turning on to reduce eye strain, or whether brightness needs adjusting.

Frame rate animations and leaving a test

Two animations move a cube or a few rectangles across the screen and show the display's frame rate in frames per second. A double-tap anywhere on the screen exits whichever test is open.
