Uber Lite is a smaller version of the Uber app for requesting a car. The developer, Uber Technologies, says it offers the same rides as the full app while using less storage and data.

The developer describes it as built for places with weak connections, so it suits riders who want a basic booking app on a tight storage or data budget.

Booking a ride in four steps

You open the app, confirm where you are, and tap to set your destination. Then you pick a vehicle type and confirm the ride. The developer says the whole process takes four taps, with little or no typing.

Your location and destination are passed to the driver so they know where to pick you up and where to drop you off.

Paying and using it on a weak connection

Rides can be paid for in cash, so no card needs to be stored in the app. The developer says the app can be downloaded and used without wifi or a strong connection.
