What the game is and who it suits

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is a sports life simulation from Cygames, and the developer says it won Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2025. You play as a trainer who takes on a runner and guides her through a career of races.

It suits players who want to build up one character over a long stretch and then test that character against rivals in competitive races.

Scouting and training your runners

You scout featured trainees and supporters to add to your roster. The training system is where you develop each Umamusume toward her full potential, and the developer says success depends on training hard and working to communicate with your runners.

The listing names more than 20 Umamusume to train, including historic racers such as Special Week, Silence Suzuka, Tokai Teio, Oguri Cap, Gold Ship and Symboli Rudolf.

Racing with live commentary

Races put up to 18 Umamusume against each other for first place. The races are shown in 3D graphics, with live commentary running over the action.

The stated goal is to win as many races as possible and take the crown, so each race is the main test of how your training has gone.

Victory concerts and racer stories

After a race, the winning Umamusume performs in a concert on stage. The developer describes the concerts as a dazzling reward that follows the race itself.

The game also tells the stories of historic racers, and each Umamusume is voiced by a named cast member in the listing.
