What Upgrade is and who it suits

Upgrade, Inc. publishes this app, and it describes the company as a financial technology firm rather than a bank. The app brings a high-yield savings account, your credit accounts and a cash back tracker into one screen on your phone.

It suits someone who already holds or is considering Upgrade's card or lending products and wants balances, payments and credit score information in the same place as their savings.

Savings, balances and bill payments

The savings account is advertised as high-yield. From the app you can check balances, see how much credit is still available to you, and pay bills.

These functions cover the day-to-day side of the account, so you do not need a separate banking app for routine checks.

Cash back on credit card purchases

Purchases made on an Upgrade credit card earn cash back, and the app tracks those rewards. The cash back is credited only after you pay the purchase back, and the listing says certain limitations apply.

Through your Upgrade accounts, the app covers Credit Card, Personal Loan, Flex Pay buy now pay later, Upgrade Card, Auto Finance, Auto Refinance and Home Improvement financing. You can make payments and check the balance on each.

The listing gives a sample Personal Loan case: an assumed 12% APR over 36 months for Faster Payoff or 48 months for Lower Payment. All loan offers are subject to approval.

Tracking and simulating your credit score
