What kind of game this is

This is an interactive horror novel by Jim Dattilo, based on Vampire: The Masquerade. It has no graphics and no sound effects, so everything happens through the text you read and the choices you make. Your decisions steer where the story goes.

It is set in the World of Darkness shared story universe and is rated 12+. It suits readers who like branching stories in which the plot changes with each choice.

The town and the disappearances

You have just moved to Jericho Heights, on the outskirts of Chicago, and find that vampires live there. You are also trying to build a new life, make friends and possibly find love.

When your neighbors start disappearing, you have to act. The main threat is Chastain, a vampire more than a century old, whose influence is spreading through the town.

Hunting vampires and gathering allies

You take on the role of a vampire hunter. Your task is to gather your forces, learn how the vampires operate and use the rivalries between them against each other.

Allies are central to this. The game asks you to build a group that can take on the vampires terrorizing the town, with a stake as the hunter's weapon.

Choosing sides in the vampire war

A group of young thin-blood vampires starts a war with Chastain. You decide whether to side with them, side against them, or hunt them all.

Because the story responds to your choices, the same setup can play out differently depending on which side you take and how you deal with each faction.
