What Vimeo Create is for

Vimeo Create is a mobile video editor for making short videos to post on social media. The developer describes it as aimed at people with no editing background, so the main work is arranging existing footage rather than shooting or building effects from scratch.

The developer says it is meant to help videos stand out and reach more followers. It is published by Vimeo.com, Inc., and the listing presents it as a companion to Vimeo's video hosting platform.

Cutting, joining and reordering clips

The core editing tools let you trim the start and end of a clip, cut out sections in the middle, and merge several clips into one video. You can also reorder clips after they are joined.

These steps cover the basic cut-and-assemble work most short social videos need. The listing does not describe any advanced tools beyond these.

Adding filters, music, text and stickers

Once the clips are in order, you can apply filters to change the look of the footage. You can also add music, overlay text, and place stickers on the video.

Music, text and stickers are the layer that turns a plain cut into something closer to a finished post. The listing gives no detail on how these elements are positioned or timed.

Templates and smart editing for beginners

Vimeo Create includes hundreds of custom-designed video templates. A template gives you a ready-made structure, so you fill in your own footage rather than building a layout yourself.

The developer says the smart editing features are meant to make videos quickly, including for someone who has never edited before. The listing does not say which parts of the process are automated.
