Vodafone TV is a Smart TV app from Vodafone ES that brings live channels and an on-demand library onto the television. The developer describes it as a service for Vodafone TV customers, with a multi-device option for people who are not yet customers.
It suits someone who already has Vodafone TV and wants to watch channels and catalogue titles on a TV screen rather than on a phone or computer.
The app gives access to a broad channel line-up, which you browse and pick from on the TV. You can build a list of favourite channels so the ones you watch most are kept together.
The favourites list is the quickest way back to the channels you return to, without scrolling the full catalogue each time.
Beyond live channels, the listing describes thousands of on-demand titles across cinema, series, documentaries, children's programmes, sports and music. Each is played on request rather than at a broadcast time.
The app also learns from your viewing and suggests titles adapted to your tastes, so the home screen changes with what you choose to watch.
A search function lets you look for a specific programme, film or channel instead of browsing category by category. The developer presents this as a way to save time.
Together with the favourites list and recommendations, search gives three routes into the catalogue: a direct lookup, a list you maintain yourself, and suggestions the app makes.
To use the app you sign in with a Mi Vodafone username and password, the same credentials used for the Vodafone customer account. You do not create a separate Vodafone TV login.
Devices linked to your account are managed through Mi Vodafone rather than inside the app. Non-customers are directed to contact Vodafone to find out how the multi-device service works.
Playback needs either a WiFi connection or a mobile data connection. The developer notes that streaming uses data and recommends WiFi where it is available.
On a mobile connection, streaming counts against your data allowance, so the choice of network matters more for longer viewing sessions.
