What the Way2News Reporter app is for

Way2News Reporter is the contributor side of Way2News, a hyperlocal news service in India. Its readers get short news summaries in Telugu and Tamil, updated daily, and the listing says the service reaches millions of readers each day.

The app is aimed at stringers, working journalists and ordinary citizens who want to report on their own area. Someone who lives in a village or town and wants to write about local events would use it to send stories into that daily feed.

Filing local stories by place and topic

Stories are tied to a specific location: a district, a taluk or a village. The listing says this localization is what lets the service serve readers who want news from their own area rather than from a state or national desk.

Stories are written in a short, summarized format rather than as long articles. They are sorted into categories, which the listing says helps match vernacular readers with different interests. Each story carries the reporter's name, since the developer presents reporters as the sources readers see.

Reporting as paid work and extra income

The developer says 30,000 reporters already use the app to write local stories for Way2News. The listing pitches it as a way to earn additional money while covering your own community.

The listing frames this as suited to people who want to work for themselves, using the app to report from their own area alongside other work.

Who the app suits

The listing names three groups: stringers, working journalists, and people who care about their society and want some extra earnings. Each group files the same kind of short, location-tagged story.

Because the app is built around Telugu and Tamil and around district, taluk and village reporting, it fits contributors who write about those languages and places.
